Volvo Cars shined at the first ArabWheels Awards during a ceremony which took place at H Hotel in Dubai on November 11 in the presence of automotive experts and key players.

The all-new XC90 was named the 'Best Midsize Premium SUV' for its outstanding combination of luxury, space, versatility, efficiency, safety and visually striking design.

ArabWheels Awards, presented by ArabWheels publication, was inaugurated this year to recognise and acknowledge the latest and the greatest of the automotive industry.

Jury members included a panel of distinguished regional automotive industry experts.

“The all-new Volvo XC90 symbolises the cornerstone of a complete new generation of cars, combining innovative technology with Scandinavian design virtues, and standing for a new individual approach in the premium segment,” said Emre Karaer, General Manager at Volvo Cars Middle East and North Africa.

The powerful 7-seat premium SUV marks the beginning of a new chapter in Volvo’s history, capturing its future design direction, incorporating its own range of new technologies and utilizing its new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) technology and Drive-E powertrain family.

“The XC90 won the ‘Midsize Premium SUV’ category thanks to its blend of imposing proportions and exquisite detailing,” said Issam Eid, Editor-in-Chief of ArabWheels magazine.

“The handsome SUV has a huge presence on the road. With its clean interior design, top-notch materials and flawless quality, its cabin feels luxurious and crammed with superb hi-tech features,” added Eid.

“This award reflects the great passion that Volvo Cars puts into its cars. In our work on this car we have been very much aware of Volvo’s heritage, the value of authenticity and Scandinavian design, but we have also taken some bold and progressive steps forward,” added Kaarer.
