Wyndham Hotel Group has announced the launch of the first ‘BeWell Cycle Tour UAE’.

This latest initiative by the hotel group is focused on reducing obesity rates amongst the UAE population and promoting a healthy lifestyle through cycling, education and the provision of appropriate support.

The BeWell Cycle Tour UAE will celebrate health and fitness in the UAE and encourage the community to join in the fight against obesity by getting people on their bikes for a dedicated cycle tour taking place on February 12.

It will consist of a number of routes which will run concurrently, one starting at Abu Dhabi to Dubai (146km), one starting at Ras Al Khaimah to Dubai (142km) and two shorter routes which will start at Ajman to Dubai (61km) and a 20km taking place in Dubai.

The routes will cover a range of distances to meet the different fitness levels and cycling experiences.

As part of the initiative, Wyndham Hotel Group has partnered with Mediclinic Middle East to launch the ‘BeWell Ambassadors Program’.

Ambassadors will be selected to undertake a specialised training program with dedicated Mediclinic Middle East support to work towards changing their lifestyle and improving their wellbeing.

They will also participate in the BeWell Cycle Tour UAE to celebrate their achievement.

Those interested in changing their lifestyle can apply online at www.bewell-tour.com.

The ambassadors will be announced on November 25 at a dedicated BeWell sport event at the Dubai Autodrome, held as part of the UAE National Sports Day celebrations.

Michael Zager, Regional VP Middle East & Africa of the Wyndham Hotel Group said: “We understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle and it is our aim to spread the message to more people across the UAE. We want to make exercise as enjoyable as possible and what better way to do this than cycling across the Emirates. The BeWell Cycle Tour UAE is open to everyone, whether you have been training for years or just want to try something new.”

In addition, Wyndham Hotel Group is partnering with Al Jalila Foundation, a Dubai-based healthcare philanthropic organisation, so that guests at participating Wyndham Hotel Group Properties, (Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Ramada, Howard Johnson, Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham and Tryp by Wyndham) can make donations to the Foundation’s obesity research fund.
