Yogi Group rout UBL to clinch Aseel Finance Ramadan Cup

Spectacular half centuries by Swapnil Salvi (89) and Shahzad Manna (70 not out) saw Yogi Group emerged champions in the Aseel Islamic Finance 26th Sharjah Ramadan Cup 2014 Twenty20 cricket tournament.

The tournament was organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council.

Yogi Group thrashed United Bank Limited (UBL) by nine wickets to lift the trophy and pocket a cash prize of Dh15,000.

The runners-up also took home a trophy with a cash prize of Dh10,000.

Chasing a stiff target of 186, the Yogi Group openers made it look easy firing salvos during their stunning 158-run partnership in 13 overs.

Man of the match Salvi smashed 89 from only 43 deliveries bludgeoning 10 sixes and four boundaries.

Manna's unbeaten on 70 came from just 40 deliveries and was laced with six boundaries and five sixes.

UAE batsman Swapnil Patel scoreed 18 not out as Yogi Group achieved the target in 15.3 overs.

Earlier, put in to bat first, UBL were off to a rousing start with openers Syed Maqsood and Amjad Ali adding a quick 64 runs.

Maqsood cracked a 19-ball 46 studded with six sixes and a boundary while Ali was a tad slow facing 25 deliveries to hit 43 consisting of five fours and two sixes.

Ahmed Sauket (26) and Ramees Shahzad (37) made siginificant contributions to ensure UBL posted a 185 for six in 20 overs.

Manna earned the Player Of The Tournament for his consistent performance to get himself a trophy and Dh1,000 cash prize.

While Syed Maqsood of UBL took the Best Batsman award, Ahmed Raza of UBL was adjuged the Best Bowler.
