The season’s first Open Drag Racing event opened with races on Tuesday and Wednesday evening with a gathering of Porches, Jeeps and speed addicts at the Yas Drag Racing Centre.
“Drag racing will be a significant and exciting cornerstone of our winter calendar, building on Yas Marina circuit’s reputation as a world class motorsports venue, and we’ve all enjoyed watching the start off the season with some great racing,” said Richard Cregan, Chief Executive Officer of Yas Marina Circuit.
From a safety point of view, cars are not permitted to race unless they have functional seatbelts, properly mounted seats, functional brakes, no fluid leaks, and no nitrous oxide.
The Yas Drag Racing Centre is managed by Rashed Al Qubaisi, who holds a licence from Frank Hawley’s Drag Racing School.
The next Open Drag Racing evenings are on the December 4 and 8.
