The UAE’s largest indoor sporting festival, Dubai Sports World (DSW) is introducing even more sporting and entertainment options to its two-month marathon of indoor sports organised by Dubai World Trade Centre in association with Dubai Sports Council (DSC) and Dubai Events and Promotion Establishment (DEPE).

Running throughout July and August, the event is being held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, in the Arena and Sheikh Saeed Halls 1, 2 and 3 providing 25,000 square metres of dedicated sports.

The event has added spectacular activities for those guests passionate about action and adventure.

In partnership with Magic Planet, the flagship brand from Majid Al Futtaim Leisure and Entertainment, there is now a six-metre high climbing wall, an indoor ice skating rink, a jumping trampoline, a Euro-Bungee, and a plethora of exciting gaming zones complete with driving simulators, all adding a broad spectrum of alternative activities for guests looking to experience something different.

Helal Saeed Almarri, CEO, DWTC said: “We are pleased to be working with our esteemed partners for such an important initiative to promote the wide breadth of fitness and sporting activities available throughout the UAE. Dubai Sports World has extended its activities to cater for an even wider audience of residents and visitors to the UAE alike, once again showing Dubai’s commitment to provide state-of-the-art facilities for families and communities to come together.”

Approximately 600 tonnes of sand and 6,600 square metres of astro-turf have been transported to the venue in preparation for the diverse range of sporting activities available, including football, rugby, basketball, beach volleyball, beach football, futsal, tennis, table tennis, gaming zones, a fitness gym and plenty more.

Participants will be mentored and coached by international and local football and rugby professionals, who will identify and nurture talent, acting as scouts for sporting stars of the future.

One of the venue’s main attractions, the state of-the-art football and rugby pitch is already doubling up as a professional league venue as well a coaching facility.

Among the famous rugby names taking part are Chris Davies, Director of Rugby at Dubai Wasps and former England Colleges Under 19’s coach, Shane Thornton, UAE Rugby Association (UAERA) National Team 7's Head Coach and Saeed Ahmed Bin Hamad Al Nuaimi, Board Member, UAERA.

"We are targeting Emiratis and the expatriates with corporate companies being our main target," said Mahir Abdulkarim Julfar, Director Commercial (Venues) of Dubai World Trade Centre.

"We have specialised training in basketball and a professional indoor gym to encourage locals and expatriates to come and experience a healthy lifestyle activity this summer," said Ray Tinston, Head of Dubai Sports World.

The UAE rugby team's Sevens coach Shane Thornton heaped praise on the venue.

"We have our eyes on the upcoming Asia Sevens to be held held in Shanghai and Borneo. To have an air-conditioned indoor venue to train is something wonderful this summer," he said.
"The Dubai Sports World is an excellent platform for locals to come and experience rugby first hand."

Fitness trainer Guilaume Mariole recommends training during the Holy month of Ramadan as well.

"The intensity level drops but the training and workouts should continue in order to develop a well toned and halthy body," he said.
"The objective of the gym is to keep parents fit while the kids have fun at the Dubai Sports World."

American coach Luqman Rashad founder of MPAC sports Basketball Academy was also impressed with the facilities.

"I see a lot of talent and skills among the locals here. The venue is fantastic. Hats off to all thos working behind the scenes to make this possible," he said.

The International Football Academy (IFA) director Jim Reilly was happy with the turnout so far and expected more Emiratis to join their programmes next month.
