Mouhcine and Kangara win second ADNIC Yas Run

More than 2,600 runners of all ages took part in the second ADNIC Yas Run held at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.

Outaleb Mouhcine from Morocco, with a time of 29 minutes 32 seconds, and Jane Kangara from Kenya, with a time of 34 minutes 43 seconds, were crowned champions of the 10km race and will fly to New York for the 2013 UAE Healthy Kidney 10K next year.

Benjamin Elliot, 11 took first place in the 1km children’s race, Samuel O’Shea, 14, was first across the line in the 3km event and Abu Dhabi Police A1 took the trophy in the 10km team relay race.

The ADNIC Yas Run this year welcomed over 470 of the Abu Dhabi Police force, including Staff Major General Obaid Al Ketbi, Deputy General Commander of Abu Dhabi Police and Member of Abu Dhabi Executive Council.

The children of Sheikha Al Yazia bint Saif bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, patron of the official ADNIC Yas Run 2012 charity, Operation Smile cut the official ribbon to start the 1km race, the first event of the day.

Joining forces to promote healthy living, leading companies from Abu Dhabi supported the event, including Abu Dhabi National Insurance Company, title sponsor, Etihad Airways, Abu Dhabi Sports Council and Yas Viceroy Hotel.

This year’s health partners included Health Authority Abu Dhabi (HAAD), MSH International, and NMC Healthcare, who provided free blood pressure and sugar level health check-ups for participants in the race.
