Talk ‘N’ Text has secured a spot in the best-of-three quarterfinals of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup, beating Barangay Ginebra Kings, 100-86, on Sunday night at SM Mall of Asia Arena  in Pasay City in the Philippines.

The 7-foot Jerome Jordan, formerly with New York Knicks, garnered 23 points, 17 boards and two blocks, dumping the Gin Kings to tie for fourth spot with Petron Blaze Boosters at 7-6.

The Gin Kings dropped to solo fifth so far at 7-7, according to an article published on the website of PBA, or Philippine Basketball Association.

The seventh and eighth seeds at the next round will play Rain or Shine and Alaska Aces in the quarterfinals.

PBA quoted Jordan as saying that he would do everything he could to help Tropang Texters finish ahead of everybody.

“We’ll try to make a strong push (to close the eliminations) and try to win the whole thing (the championship),” Jordan vowed.

In the meantime, Allein Maliksi, formerly a University of Santo Tomas standout, recorded a career-high 25 points to lead Barako Bull past GlobalPort, 96-87, in the opening game.

The Texters took control early, taking the first quarter at 32-17 and registering a 17-point lead in the second quarter at 40-23.

“Jordan did a good job defensively,” Tropang Texters coach Norman Black said.

The Gin Kings stepped up in the third quarter, however, rallying to within one at 61-62 as they leaned on the exploits of Kerby Raymundo.

But it was also Raymundo who gave the Kings a big blow when he fouled out with over eight minutes to play. Nevertheless, he carried his team in most of the entire game, obtaining a personal conference-high of 22 points.

Tropang Texters took the reins again in the fourth quarter, pulling away at 89-73 and winning the game eventually at 100-86.
