Second Hamdan bin Mohammed Sports Leadership programme launched

The Dubai Sports Council (DSC) launched the second Hamdan bin Mohammed Programme for Sports Leadership at a ceremony in Dubai on Wednesday.
It aims to provide local youth with necessary experience to face future challenges and award certificates which is equivalent to a M.A. Degree in Sports Management.
A Memorandum of Association was signed between DSC and Mohammed bin Rashid Programme for Leadership Development which prepared all requirements of the programme.
“Work in sports sector does not depend only on acquired experiences, it needs specialisation. Our aim is to attain sports achievements in the regional, continental and international fields. The current edition integrates the achievements attained in the first edition of this pioneer Program aiming to obtain promising development in UAE sports,” said Mattar Al Tayer, deputy chairman of DSC.
Amal Bin Adi, the General Director of Human Resources Department for Dubai Government, Dr. Ahmed Al Sharif, DSC Secretary General, and Mohammed Mattar Al Kutabi, the Director of the Programme were present at the ceremony.
Conveying the compliments of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of DSC, Al Tayer referred to Sheikh Hamdan’s unlimited support for this programme which reflects the strategy of UAE leaders to support qualified locals and prepare them to assume leadership responsibilities in the future. 
He said the launch of the second edition of the Programme coincides with UAE’s historical achievements in sports. “His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, has guided the UAE National Team to attain the gold medal in the World Endurance Championship while in football both the UAE National Olympic Team and UAE Juniors National Team have got Gulf titles beside the inauguration of the Hamdan bin Mohammed Sports Complex, where the 10th FINA World Swimming Championships is decided to be hosted from December 15 to 19,” said Al Tayer.
Applicants interested in joining the Programme should not to be less than 25, hold at least High Secondary School or equivalent certificate, have three years of practical experience in the sports field, commit to serve for at least three years after graduation and have a knowledge of English language.
They can be nominated through sports councils and clubs or apply via the Programmes’ website: www.dubaissportleaders.ae before November 21.
The Programme starts in January 2011 and will continue for 12 months.
