With just a few days remaining, tickets for this week’s FootVolley World Cup have already gone on sale.

Organisers of this high-profile event have announced the creation of three categories of tickets: VIP tickets at Dh125, lower seating at Dh50 and upper seating at Dh25. In addition, there will be specially invited VIPs to attend the two-day event to be held at the JBR The Walk from October 27-29.

The opening ceremony of the competition will be held at 7 pm on Thursday and spectators stand a chance of winning raffle prizes from one of the event sponsors, adidas on all three days of the event.

Held under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, under the supervision of the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare and the UAE Volleyball Association, the competition has attracted some of the top FootVolley teams from across the globe.

The final touches are being put on the three playing pitches at The Walk JBR with the main area having a seating capacity of 3,000 while the side pitches will be in a position to accommodate 500 spectators each.

The organisers have also included an Activity Area at the venue where visitors and spectators will be able to enjoy various aspects of UAE heritage and living. In addition, there will be food and beverage stalls, hot air balloon rides, beach soccer, beach volleyball, beach rugby and beach netball.

The men’s competition will be well-fought with world champions Brazil having five teams followed by two each from England, Italy, Netherlands and Paraguay. Other participating nations include Argentina, Austria, Bolivia, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Iran, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine, Uruguay and the US.

Hosts UAE will be led by the pairing of Mohammad Rashid and Jamal Saif, who is also doubling up as organiser of the competition.

FootVolley is a combination of football and beach volleyball, but with the use of hands.

For the Dubai tournament, Marinas Turbo is the Platinum sponsor, Emirates NBD and GET Group as the Gold sponsors, while Adidas, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Dubai Duty Free and Definitely Dubai are the silver sponsors. The three-day event will have an official opening draw at the Gloria Hotel at 8pm on October 26.
