Hamdan bin Zayed highlights UAE's humanitarian contribution

Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of the Red Crescent Authority (RCA), has appreciated the initiatives of the UAE led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in enhancing humanitarian conditions and preserving dignity of the marginalised and needy people around the world.

He commended in a statement on the UAE Humanitarian Day, which coincides with 19th of Ramadan, the campaign to clothe one million needy children worldwide, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. He said the campaign exceeded its target after only 10 days from the launch.

"Since we lost on this date in 2004, a great philanthropist and the founding father of the UAE the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, we have been inspired by his rich legacy," Sheikh Hamdan said.

He underlined that the UAE has been striving to promote the charity and humanitarian work through enhancing the relief aid during the disasters and even launched the development projects that contribute to improving the lives of needy communities.

Sheikh Hamdan paid a tribute to the RCA employees and volunteers for their self-denial and sacrifices, noting that they have been providing necessary assistance to those need it to alleviate suffering. He also lauded Emirati and resident philanthropists for their valuable support to the RCA.
