Big parking debate for new Dubai residents

No sooner had the RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency finalised the implementation of paid parking system in Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City and Dubai Knowledge Village earlier this year, than residents of, and visitors to, a swathe of areas across New Dubai – including Dubai Marina and Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT) – were in a parking conundrum.

Paid parking zones, reserved parking spaces designated for employees, limited parking time and a host of changes meant major adjustments to life in these much-sought after living and leisure areas.

What do residents and visitors feel about the changes?

For example, JLT’s two-hour parking rule may be understandable, but is the Dh200 fine for breaking it justified?
