Heavy snow hits city

An unexpected heavy snow slammed northeast China's Changchun city Sunday, ripping tree branches and some power lines across the city.

As many trees are still with leaves in late autumn, their branches are easy to break by extra weight. Some car owners were unlucky to see their cars damaged by fallen tree branches in car parks.

The snow began to fall on Oct. 21 night and ended on Oct. 22 afternoon.

Many commercials and sign boards were overwhelmed by snows. Local power department received eight reports of power failure as a result of fallen tree branches.
