A woman has had a terrifying ride along a US highway after her accelerator jammed and her brakes failed to work.

    I know this is a frightening experience for anyone. It's hard to think past slamming on the brakes. Remember you can always push the gear selector to neutral, it won't go to reverse or park because of the lockout mechanism. The engine will accelerate, and maybe even fail, but you will not have a full reving motor pushing you down the road. Remember select neutral, and if you have no foot brake, softly apply the side, or parking brake to bring you to a stop.
