Insane! World's tallest waterslide

The Kansas City, Kan., water park is building the tallest, fastest water slide in the world. The Verrückt (German for insane) Meg-A-Blaster is scheduled to make its splash when the park opens May 23.

New photos and a video on the company’s blog show the project taking shape, with the 17-story tower and precipitous drop in place, along with the raft conveyor.

The slide will be called Verrückt, which is German for insane.

Four-person rafts will plummet down from the tower and over a five-story hill. It’s not a “wedgie producing body slide.

The slide is part of a major expansion that doubled the size of Schlitterbahn.

Visitors can traverse a mile-long interconnected river and reach every part of the park without leaving the water. Propulsion for the rapids and wave pools is provided by two huge screw pumps that pulse more than 20,000 gallons of water every 16 seconds.

Schlitterbahn says it has the only “watercoaster” in the Midwest, and its Boogie Bahn allows inland surfers to ride the waves.
