New law to ban India's 'untouchable' toilet cleaners

INDIA, Faridabad: India's manual sewer cleaners are the true "untouchables," those on the very bottom rung of the caste ladder, considered impure physically and in spirit. As parliament mulls new legislation to ban the profession, one organization is fighting the social stigma attached to the job while helping thousands of cleaners find better ways to make a living.
