Pooches are pampered ahead of dog show

A combination of neck and paw massages, a good workout on the treadmill and even some supernatural help are all designed to get some of the world's top dogs in shape for the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.

Debbie Zimmerman is a massage therapist at the Green Room Salon and Spaw - as in paw - located at New York's Hotel Pennsylvania.

"We're in New York. A lot of these dogs have never been here before. A lot of these owners have never been here before and a lot of what I'm trying to do is relax the dog so the dogs can do their best."

The dogs will perform at the 136th Westminster show held at Madison Square Garden.

Judy Davis, the founder of the spa, says these showdogs really are a different breed of animal.

"These are show dogs. They are conditioned to be able to adept in any kind of situation. That's the beauty of it. I've been very fortunate with this set up. I've had it now for 10 years and knock on wood, I've yet to have a dog fight."

And if you're a dog owner who's ever wondered what your furry companion is really thinking, then you can use a 'pet psychic'.

Annie Germani read the mind of one competitor named Frank.

"When Frank was talking to me. He was saying how much he loves the ring. He's not afraid of the judges. Frank has got very very much confidence. That's how I pick up. You just tune into their vibration and you just read what they're feeling and how they are doing. Dogs are great."

They may not all win 'best in breed' but we know these dogs will go home feeling like a million bucks.
