Baker caught spitting on dough in Saudi Arabia

A baker was caught on camera spitting on the dough before baking the bread, prompting Saudi authorities to shut the bakery in the Gulf kingdom.

The municipality in the northeastern Saudi town of Khafji sent its inspectors to shut the bakery after it saw a film on social media networks.

The film, published in ‘Sabq’ newspaper, showed the baker spitting on the dough just before putting it inside the furnace.

It did not say why the baker spat on the dough but quoted the municipality’s director Bandar Al Subaei as saying the inspectors discovered other violations at the bakery, including bad storage of flour and poor cleanliness of the bakery and its workers.
