Saudi authorities have caught a number of local men shown in a YouTube film burning a caged fox alive following an extensive manhunt through the Gulf Kingdom.

Police said they arrested the fox torturers in the southern Asir province after a call from the country’s wildlife authorities to get those responsible and punish them.

“We have got them…they are under arrest and would be questioned about their crime against the fox,” police spokesman Lt Colonel Abdullah Shaatan told Sabq daily.

He did not say how many men were arrested after the film showed them pouring petrol on the fox inside a cage and setting it ablaze.

The wildlife authority’s chairman Prince Bandar bin Saud bin Mohammed described the torturers as “terrorists” and called for arresting and punishing them.
