UK passenger on Saudi flight goes berserk

A British passenger went berserk aboard a Saudi flight to London and assaulted the cabin crew before splashing water on the passengers and forcing them to pray loudly, a Saudi newspaper reported on Tuesday.

The saga, which created panic among the passengers, lasted nearly 30 minutes before the passenger was overpowered by a group of Pakistani pilgrims and handed over to the British police after landing at Heathrow airport in London, Sabq said.

It quoted a passenger as saying the aircraft was en route from the Western Saudi Red Sea port of Jeddah to London when the passenger of non-UK origins went mad as the aircraft was crossing Greece’s airspace.

“He attacked the cabin crew after they tried to calm his down and forced them to sit down.

“He then began splashing water on the passengers before forcing them to pray loudly after him,” said the passenger, who shot a brief film of the man’s arrest.

“A group of Pakistani men who were on pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia later surrounded the passenger and overpowered him.

After the plane landed, the pilot asked all passengers to remain seated as British police boarded the aircraft and arrested that passenger.”
