World’s biggest date festival kicks off

The Buraidah date festival began in Saudi Arabia 21 years ago.

For one month in the northwestern region of Qassim, traders sell and buy produce worth more than 750 million dollars. And yet, it only represents 40 percent of date sales in the Qassim region where six million palm trees grow.

Every day, there is an auction and more than 2,000 vehicles are loaded every day with dates of all kinds.
