China-developed "Dragon", the world's fastest industrial robot, highlights the 2012 China International Industry Fair, which opened in east China's Shanghai.

The five-day Fair, held in November annually since 1999, focuses on the latest achievements in the country's equipment manufacturing sector this year.

It's the first time for the fair organizers to open an industrial robot exhibition. More than 60 domestic and foreign companies and research institutes are showcasing hundreds of their newest robots here.

The Dragon robot, a mouse-making robot, weighs about as much as a seven-year-old child. It can also achieve an outstanding degree of operating accuracy, thinner than a single hair.

As the fastest assembly robots of this kind in the world, its operating tempo is 0.58 second. It can work four times as efficiently as a pair of human hands. These robots are mainly used for the production of cell phones, computers and other electronics.

"Robots were mainly used in such productive operations as welding. But now, more and more robots are applied in assembling and day-to-day living fields," said Li Gang, President of the ABB Robot Division in China.

Besides Dragon robots, the humanoid robots named "Wukong", which can play table tennis with people as well as the industrial robots which perform martial arts or dance are attractive to visitors.

The displays at the annual fair also include new industrial products such as electric cars, mobile network and space technology.
