Which is busiest Metro stations in Dubai?

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced in a media statement on Monday that the Dubai Metro, comprising the Red and Green Lines, has posted high ridership during the month of April, clocking 13,879,636 passengers, which compares well with the ridership recorded during the same period last year amounting to 11,298,414 riders.

Deira City Station on the Red Line once again topped the metro stations in terms of passengers last April, reporting 607,150 passengers during the period. This means that an average of 20,250 passengers board or disembark at the station every day, including on weekends, making it the busiest Metro Station in town.

Union Station on the Red Line ranked a close second with ridership hitting 578,918 passengers, or about 19,300 daily passengers boarding or getting off the Metro.

The Al Fahidi Station on the Green Line ranked third busiest overall (and busiest for Green Line) during April 2014, recording a ridership of 579,879 passengers (19,330 daily passengers).

The Burj Khalifa-Dubai Mall Station on the Red Line came fourth, reporting 577,249 passengers, amounting to an average 19,250 passengers stepping off or getting on to the Metro through this station.

The Al Rigga Station in Deira on the Red Line was fifth in overall passenger pecking order, recording 539,889 passengers (an average of 18,000 passengers per day), almost the same as the next-placed Bani Yas Station on Green Line, serving 539,278 passengers (17,975 passengers daily).
 
Al Ghubaiba Station on Green Line recorded 402,275 passengers (13,400 daily), ahead of Oud Metha Station with passengers count reported as 385,725 passengers (12,850 per day).

Abdullah Yousef Al Ali, Acting CEO of RTA Rail Agency, said: “The number of the metro riders last April reflect that the Dubai Metro has become one of the prime transit means commanding the attention of the Dubai residents, visitors and tourists, offering smooth mobility and access to key parts of the city in a way that measures up to the needs and expectations of users.

“This year has witnessed a remarkable growth in the number of metro riders compared to the previous year; which has always been the core of our plans tailored to delivering a whole host of initiatives and service improvements capable of enticing all community members to use the metro as a primary transit means characterised by security, luxury and safety.

“The number of trips made by the metro on both the Red & Green Lines during last April amounted to 18,354 trips (10,244 trips on the Red Line, and 8,110 trips on the Green Line); which compares well with the number of trips made in the same month last year where the total number of trips was 16,534 trips (8,866 trips on the Red Line and 7,668 trips on the Green Line).

The number of metro riders using the Red Line last April clocked 8,806,055 riders reflecting an increase over the ridership reported during the same month last year which amounted to 7,347,979 riders. Likewise, the ridership of the Green Line last April reached 5,073,581 riders, reflecting an increase over statistics of ridership during the same month last year which was 3,950,435 riders,” said the Acting CEO of RTA Rail Agency.
