Who will win Fifa Football World Cup? Time to ask your 'smart'phone...

Who will win the World Cup? That’s one of the most important question ahead of the final game scheduled to be played today.

If you don’t know the answer technology provides you with one.

Google has released a blog post with its prediction.

Google says it has so far got 13 of the 14 results right so far – add one more to the wrong result tally as it predicted  Brazilian win against Netherlands for the third place. Earlier it had predicted France to win against Germany in the quarterfinals.

But here’s what it says about Germany in the finals: “Though we think it’s going to be close, Germany has the edge: our model gives them a 55 percent chance of defeating Argentina. Both teams have had excellent tournaments so far, but the model favors Germany for a number of factors. Thus far in the tournament, they’ve had better passing in the attacking half of their field, a higher number of shots (64 vs. 61) and a higher number of goals scored (17 vs. 8).”

Google says it has been using its Google Cloud Platform to make predictions for the World Cup—analyzing data, building a statistical model and using machine learning to predict outcomes of each match since the group round.

Its not just Google that has predicted a German win. Ask Cortana Microsoft’s virtual assistant who wins the world cup and and bang comes the answer:

“Germany seems to have  slight edge. But don’t card me if I am wrong,” is the response you get from Cortana.

However Apple thinks differently. Apple’s Siri says Argentina has a better overall record compared to Germany. “I don’t have the line on this one. But Argentina has a better record than Germany.”

So its 2:1 for Germany for now but hold on the final results is just a few hours away.
