1 dead in car-truck accident in Sharjah

A Pakistani national died in an accident on Sharjah-Dhaid Road on Thursday evening in a collision between a truck and a car.

The accident took place between Intersection 7 and 8 near Sharjah Cement Factory.

Central operations room of Sharjah Police received a communication and rushed police patrols and ambulances to the accident scene.

Police said a Pakistani car owner tried to overtake a truck from the wrong side and hit the truck from the back, killing his compatriot. The car owner, who was injured in the accident, was illegally transporting a gas cylinder in the vehicle.

Police said initial evidence showed that the car owner was responsible for the accident for overtaking from the wrong side and transporting gas cylinder in the car.

 Sharjah Police appealed motorists to abide by the Traffic laws and urged not to transport gas cylinders in their own vehicles as their vehicles are not designed to transport cylinders.
