25% rise in number of new Muslims in Abu Dhabi

New Muslims in Abu Dhabi increased by 25 per cent in the first half of 2010 compared to the same period of last year, revealed latest numbers released by Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD).

Number of new Muslims in the emirate increased to 559 during the first six months of 2010 from 486 in the first six months of 2009.

Islam Embracing Section at ADJD provides a full range of services and supports usually required by new Muslims through professional staff trained for this job. Support and judicial services are very important for new Muslims since they need continuous guidance even after embracing Islam.

Citizens of the Philippines topped the list new Muslims who converted through ADJD.

The list of new Muslims in this period including American, Finnish, Ugandan, Italian, Swedish, Belgian, Australian, Eritrean, French, Mexican, Polish, Indian, Romanian, Ethiopian, Vietnamese, Russian, British, Kazakh, Spanish and Norwegian, among others.
