CAIRO: President of the Arab Parliament, Ahmed Al-Jarwan today mourned the death of Palestinian prisoner Maysara Abu Hamdiya and said the Israeli occupation authorities are fully responsible for the death of the prisoner and for the safety of other prisoners now on hunger strike.
In a statement, Al Jarwan said the Israeli government had not responded to demands by regional and international parties to release Abu Hamdiya to receive adequate medical treatment.
The Israeli occupation authorities continue to violate the Geneva Convention and other international charters on the rights and the treatment of prisoners, Al Jarwan said.
He expressed the solidarity of the Pan-Arab parliamentary body with the Palestinian people and prisoners, and called on the international organisations to shoulder their responsibilities towards the deteriorating health conditions of Palestinian prisoners at Israeli prisons.
