A 50-year-old Arab man will have his hand cut off after he was found guilty by a Saudi court for robbing a shop, the Saudi electronic newspaper said on Sunday.

The court in the southern province of Jazan ordered the amputation of the unidentified man’s hand from the wrist for breaking into the shop and stealing its contents, the Arabic language newspaper said.

“The man was found to have a criminal record including many thefts and other offences,” it added, without saying when the sentence would be executed.
