Bolt from the Red for Man Utd

Bolt has given sprint training to Ronaldo

Olympic champion Usain Bolt fancies a new career in football with his beloved Manchester United, according to reports.

Bolt sprinted to Olympic glory on Sunday, winning the 100 metres at London 2012, four years after also claiming gold at the 2008 Games in Beijing.

Asked about what his next challenge might be, the Jamaican - a keen United fan - revealed an urge to swap his athlete's spikes for football boots.

"People think I am joking, but if Sir Alex Ferguson called me up and said 'Okay, let's do this. Come and have a trial', it would be impossible for me to say no," he said.

"I would not take up the challenge if I didn't think I was good enough. I am a very accomplished player and I know I could make a difference.

"I would be the fastest player in the team - but I can play as well."

Bolt has already dabbled in football, giving sprint training to Cristiano Ronaldo during pre-season at United a few years ago.

"I feel that I really helped Cristiano Ronaldo become a more complete player," he said.
