Emaar Properties, the developer of Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest tower, has said that all apartment owners, including those who have defaulted on the service charges due, or their tenants, have full access to their apartments.

“All apartment owners, including those who have defaulted on the service charges due, and their tenants can access their units at all times without restriction,” an Emaar spokesperson said.

He refuted the report in media stating that home-owners who have defaulted on their service charge do not have access to their apartments as false and without basis.

“The service charge goes towards the maintenance of common areas, it is the responsibility of home-owners to make the payment on time. The people who have defaulted have pending service charge payments for 2012 and earlier,” the spokesperson added.

“Home-owners who have paid service charges will continue to enjoy seamless access to all common area amenities. We also continue to provide essential and vital community services including security and air-conditioning to all home-owners and residents regardless of the status of their dues.”

The company added that it was committed to the welfare of home-owners and residents, and was looking forward to their support in ensuring that service charge payments were made on time.
