UAE is experiencing a shortage of iPhone and BlackBerry phones supplied with Etisalat and du service plans.

At least five electronic stores that Emirates 24|7 contacted this morning said they do not have stocks available on select models of these handsets sold along with tariff plans by service providers.

The shortage with iPhones is limited to the 4G models for BlackBerry the shortage is mostly for the Bold models.

“While the shortage of iPhones started a week or so ago, we have been facing BlackBerry shortages for over two weeks,” said a salesperson at Plugins.

According to him there is a shortage of phones supplied by both Etisalat and du. He said fresh stocks are expected in a week.

A salesperson at Sharaf DG also said that they too have been facing shortage. “It is limited to phones with tariff plans. We have enough stocks for both iPhones and BlackBerry models sold independent of tariff plans. But the demand is more for the du offer as it comes with unlocked phones,” he said.

The 16GB iPhone 4 is being offered by Etisalat for Dh2049 and a monthly package of Dh99 while the same model is sold by du for Dh2449.
