Call rates for some countries changed: 1-minute charge for 1-second calls
In response to a change in the billing policy of some destination countries, UAE telecom operator Etisalat has announced a change in international calling charge pulse for those select countries.
As a result of the change, a full minute’s charge will be levied on calls made to these countries even for calls that last only a second.
“In response to a change in billing policy by telecom operators of Pacific Islands countries - Nauru, Papua New Guinea, West Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu, as well as Gambia and Mexico, Etisalat will charge New Wasel SIM users, who are currently on a per second billing pulse, to minimum 60 second pulse increment (per minute) for calls made to these countries. The change will be effective starting 23 June 2016,” the operator said in a statement today.
“There will be no other changes for calls to other destinations,” Etisalat added.
