The Cloud war hots up as Google slashed prices of its cloud storage solution by almost 80 per cent, taking on DropBox and Microsoft’s OneDrive.

Google announced that it was making cloud storage mode affordable and introduced 100GB storage for just $1.99 per month. The same package was priced $4.99 earlier.

Similarly, you can get 1TB storage for $9.99 compared to $49.99, a reduction of almost eighty per cent.

As Google puts it that a 1TB storage is “enough for you to take a selfie twice a day for the next 200 years and still have room left over for… shall we say… less important things.”

By paying $99.99 per month you get a massive 10TB of storage on the cloud.

“Having launched Google Drive just two years ago, we’re excited that so many people are now using it as their go-to place for keeping all their files… thanks to a number of recent infrastructure improvements, we’re able to make it more affordable for you to keep everything safe and easy to reach on any device, from anywhere,” Google said in its announcement.

Google continues to offer 15GB of storage free.

Now compare this to DropBox, the pioneer of online storage has just 2GB of online storage free while the 100GB plan is priced at $9.99 a month while 500GB plan is priced at $49.99 a month.

Microsoft’s OneDrive on the other hand offers 7GB of free storage and an additional 3GB for uploading your photos from your smartphone.

An additional 50GB is priced at $4.99 per month, while 100GB of OneDrive cloud storage costs $7.49. But with Google slashing prices, expect others to follow suit soon.
