Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has instructed Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (du) to suspend and modify its declaration to run the fourth-generation (4G) network.
The announcement of d" coincides with the launch of etisalat network of the fourth generation using the "L.T-E." technology.
TRA requested information from du on the announcement, so as to study its compatibility with the regulatory framework of the TRA, the approvals of services delivery and the granted licence.
As for the definition of the fourth generation technology, the TRA examined the resolutions issued by the International Telecommunication Union and found that the Union did not issue a decision on introduction of "+ Hspa" technology, which depends in its operation on the third-generation network within the definition of the fourth generation.
