Etisalat says some of its customers may experience “short service disruptions” for an hour early on Monday morning as part of their regular network upgrade.

The disruption of service would be between 2am and 3am tomorrow. An SMS note from the operator states, “In our constant endeavor to provide you the latest technology and unmatched network quality, an upgrade to our network will be done on October 11, 2010. You may experience short service disruptions between 2am and 3am due to Network upgrade. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”

A company spokesperson told Emirates 24|7 that it is part of a regular process that happens periodically. “There is nothing unusual in it. It is also not for any special addition of any latest service. It is for a regular update,” said the spokesperson.

The company recently completed the implementation of High-Speed Packet Access Plus (HSPA+) technology across the UAE cities, enabling its 3G network to cover the entire country.

The facility will enable mobile broadband speeds of up to 21 mbps for downloads and 11 mbps for uploads in peak conditions.
