If Samsung has gone the Oculus way, HTC plans to get into a totally different but familiar domain – camera.

According to latest reports, the Taiwanese tech firm could be in for more action as it plans to release a sports action camera, fully equipped and powerful enough to take on the likes of Go Pro.

A Bloomberg reports states that the device will be tube-shaped and equipped with a 16MP ultra wide-angle lens, in addition to connecting with both Android and iOS devices via Bluetooth or WiFi.

The report also points out that HTC could unveil the device in an event on October 8 in New York.

It was earlier expected that HTC could come out with a wearable device, something similar to a watch. HTC officials had earlier confirmed that the company was working on several devices other than smartphones but declined to specify details.

Despite launching one of the best smartphones in the market through its HTC One (M7) and (M8), the company is yet to register profits.

This could be yet another attempt by the company to register profits.
