More than 60 companies will participate in the Business-to-Business (B2B) Hong Kong Lifestyle Expo to be held in Dubai on December 11 and 12.

Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) -- the global marketing arm for Hong Kong-based manufacturers, traders and service providers, this is the first exhibition organised by the HK body in Dubai.

Perry Fung, Regional Director for Middle East and Africa at Hong Kong Trade Development Council, expect more than 200 buyers to visit the 2-day expo.

Hong Kong Exports to UAE totalled $4.3 billion in 2012, an increase of 24 per cent over the previous year with electronics, gift items and household accessories topping the list.

Fung said the aim to bring an expo to Dubai is to reach businesses in the Middle East and Africa because the emirate is used as central point for exports in the region and beyond.

The Lifestyle Expo will open from 10am to 6pm on the first day and 10am to 3pm on the second day at the Grand Ballroom of Conrad Dubai, Sheikh Zayed Road.

Abdulla Al Saleh, Undersecretary for Foreign Trade at the UAE Ministry of Economy, will be the guest of honour and co-officiator of the signature event.

Raymond Yip, Assistant Executive Director of the HKTDC, will be the Hong Kong mission leader for the maiden Hong Kong Lifestyle Expo in Dubai.
Over 60 selected companies from Hong Kong will be showcasing their products aimed at building business ties with the UAE. Reflecting the growing capabilities of Hong Kong’s increasingly creative and innovative designers, the first of its kind Lifestyle Expo in Dubai will provide total sourcing solutions from Asia.

Hong Kong's leading companies will showcase their trendy, stylish and quality products in the sectors of consumer electronics, electrical appliances, garments, textiles, fashion accessories, gifts, household products, watches and clocks as well as food and beverages.

Perry Fung said: “At the Hong Kong Lifestyle Expo in Dubai, buyers will be able to source from a wide selection of innovative lifestyle products without leaving the country, while meeting potential suppliers face-to-face. The signature exhibition is expected to attract importers, distributors, mass retailers, mail-order houses, department stores and specialised stories in the UAE and surrounding countries.”

In addition to the products exhibition, Small-Order Zone -- developed by the HKTDC -- will also be staged for the first time in Dubai. The Small-Order Zone features a line-up of high-quality products, from electronics and houseware to gift products, available in orders of 50 to 1,000 pieces.

For the Middle East region buyers, the Hong Kong Lifestyle Expo in Dubai is a one-stop opportunity to source Hong Kong’s affordable, international-quality lifestyle products and services. Visitors are offered free on-the-spot business matching services and an introduction to the HKTDC’s online services, including product searches and Hong Kong supplier lists.

The UAE is Hong Kong’s largest export market in the Middle East. Hong Kong is an international financial center located in the heart of Asia with transparent business environment and the free flow of capital and information. It provides many advantages to companies in the Middle East. Due to its proximity to the world's second largest economy China and its strategic location between the UAE and many Asian economies, Hong Kong is the central business district and trading hub of Asia, and the ideal location for many overseas companies to setup regional or representative office for their Asian markets.

The HKTDC organises more than 30 trade exhibitions each year. Nine of these fairs are the biggest of their kind in Asia, while three are the world's largest, namely, the HKTDC Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair, the HKTDC Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair and the HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition).
