The Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), along with 10 co-participants, promoted Dubai’s convention and business tourism facilities in the US market at the recently concluded Americas Meetings and Events Exhibitions (AIBTM) 2011.
The number of American visitors to Dubai grew 11 per cent last year to 437,735, DTCM said in a statement today, adding that the AIBTM, which ran from June 21 to 23, worked as the perfect showcase for Dubai’s convention operators, exhibition facilities and hotels.
“The event took place at a time when air traffic between the US and the GCC is growing, with major Gulf airlines connecting all major cities in the US with the GCC countries,” DTCM said in the statement. “Dubai’s Emirates airline operates direct flights to New York, Houston, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
