An Abu Dhabi firm has awarded an Italian defence and security systems company a contract for the provision of software, engineering and system integration activities, with a value of 25 million euros (Dh120 million).

The Abu Dhabi Systems Integration (ADSI) said it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Rome-based SELEX Sistemi Integrati, which jointly owns ADSI along with the Abu Dhabi Shipbuilding Company (ADSC).

The MOU identifies ten projects for a total value of 25 Million Euros, where SELEX Sistemi Integrati will involve ADSI, a statement said, adding that the projects span from the sector of Air Traffic Control to Air Defense and Vessel Traffic Control.

The MOU was signed in Abu Dhabi by the ADSI Chairman, Abdullah Al Darmaki, and SELEX Sistemi Integrati Director General, Lorenzo Mariani.

“This MOU will widen the area of support that ADSI is already providing to SELEX Sistemi Integrati in the UAE in the field of Combat System Integration. Two will be the immediate results of the MOU: 1. Following the successful involvement in Ghannatha and Baynunah Programs, ADSI will be called to support SELEX for the newly developed vessels that will be delivered shortly to the UAE Navy; 2. SELEX will subcontract to ADSI the on-site support activities of the Surveillance Radar System at Kuwait International Airport,” Mariani said after signing the deal.

ADSI General Manager, Andrea Barbagelata, said: “This is an important step in the company growth and shows that the shareholders acknowledge the quality of the work performed by ADSI and are willing to rely even more on ADSI in the future”.

Al Darmaki said “with a senior management composed by more than 50 percent Emirati managers, a staff of 50 engineers and technicians, and a growing rate above 15 percent every year, I trust ADSI is the ideal environment for incubating the new generation of Emirati managers and engineers in the field of systems integration.”

ADSI was established in 2005 as a limited liability venture wholly owned by its two parent companies, ADSB) and SELEX Sistemi Integrati.
