Dubai Parks & Resorts, a subsidiary of Meraas Holding, on Wednesday announced plans for Riverpark, an entrance plaza that will interconnect Motiongate Dubai, BollywoodPark Dubai and Legoland Dubai, the three theme parks in the first phase of the master development in Jebel Ali.

Spanning an area of 120,000 square metres with a total built up area of 20,000 square metres, Riverpark will provide residents and visitors with a concept that integrates retail outlets, casual dining options, quick service restaurants, with varied indoor and outdoor entertainment offerings.

A one-kilometre canal will flow through the development lined with cafés and retail outlets on either side with water taxis helping visitors navigate the destination.

Riverpark will also include a pathway around the canal and garden terraces. The plaza, with a tram route and service roads, will feature an arena for hosting community events, street entertainment and outdoor activities.

Raed Al Nuaimi, CEO, Dubai Parks & Resorts, said: “With Dubai looking to double visitor numbers by the year 2020, we believe the innovative retail, entertainment, food and beverage options showcased at Dubai Parks & Resorts will give tourists several compelling reasons to visit the mega destination.

“Riverpark will serve as a central meeting point for visitors across the three themed amusement parks as well as guests to the Polynesian themed family hotel, Lapita,” said Al Nuaimi.

The first phase of Dubai Parks & Resorts is set for completion in 2016.
