New 216-room Mövenpick hotel opens in Dubai

Dubai continues to witness addition of new five-star hotels with the latest being Mövenpick Hotel Deira with 216 keys.

Offering 595 per room night, the hotel general manager Michael Nugent said: “While Dubai has been on a building boom, Deira’s five-star hospitality sector has been some what stagnant and we mean to fill this void by bringing in some new energy.”

The hotel is located at the heart of Old Dubai’s early commercial district on the north side of the city’s arterial waterway, Dubai Creek. 
 
“It is through the Creek that Dubai is able to attribute much of its success as the commercial hub of the United Arab Emirates as a lot of Dubai’s early infrastructure grew up on the banks of the Creek, before creeping inland to the south and north,” said Nugent.

The area plays host to many of the emirate’s ministries and government service departments, including the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Labour & Social Affairs, Dubai Economic Department, the Chamber of Commerce and Dubai Municipality.

“Deira houses many official departments which remain key stop-off points for those who have earmarked Dubai as part of their business playing field. They are all a short car journey away from the hotel – indeed some can be reach by foot,” Nugent said.
