SpiceJet connects Sharjah to Lucknow and Varanasi for just Dh499

India’s SpiceJet is connecting Sharjah with Indian cities of Lucknow and Varanasi, said a press statement.

Sharjah International airport received SpiceJet’s inaugural flight on Thursday, March 7, from Varanasi, located in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The airline has deployed its New Generation Boeing 737 (189 seater aircraft).  The flight was welcomed here with water cannon.

SpiceJet is also connecting Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh, with Sharjah via direct flight that is commencing from March 13, 2013.

Fares offered by SpiceJet on all International routes including the new ones are the most competitive in the industry. To celebrate this launch, SpiceJet is offering introductory airfares of Dh499/ (one way inclusive of all taxes) to Varanasi and Lucknow.

Ali Salim Al Midfa, Director General of Sharjah Airport Authority, said: “We wish SpiceJet all the success. A carrier of such prestige and repute as SpiceJet, provides a new choice to the subcontinent bound traveller”.

He went on to reassure the airline that Sharjah International Airport would continue to provide the best services and facilities to all carriers operating through the airport, ensuring their smooth and efficient operations for the ease and comfort of both airline and passenger. He emphasised the importance of Sharjah as an industrial, trade and tourism destination in the region and maintained that this service would further enhance the strong relation between the two countries.

Neil Mills, SpiceJet’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “The Government of India has taken significant steps to open its sky for air service with other parts of the globe. To leverage the opportunity and offer quality services at affordable price to our guests, we are pleased to announce the launch of our new flight service to Sharjah from Varanasi and Lucknow".

The airline has been fast expanding its wings in international skies and by connecting Sharjah with Varanasi and Lucknow through direct flight services its total number of international destinations has reached eight (Dubai, Colombo, Kabul ,Kathmandu, Riyadh, Guangzhou, Male and Sharjah).
