Dh299 Xpad to hit UAE stores on Friday

Customs delay in India has delayed the sales of India’s cheapest tablet Xpad in the UAE.

The tablet will now start selling in the UAE from Friday, July 20. Emirates 24|7 had earlier reported that the tablet would be available across select stores in the UAE from Wednesday.

However, a company spokesperson today clarified that the stocks had only managed to reach the Jebel Ali port.

“We were expecting the stocks to arrive on Monday itself. But there were issues related to obtaining customs clearance in India. The container only managed to reach the port today. It will be cleared and dispatched to stores tomorrow. The sales will start from Friday,” the official said.

The device is priced at Dh299 and is said to be the cheapest tablet in India. It was launched in Dubai earlier last week. About 8,000 units have been shipped into the UAE as part of the first consignment.
