The number of air traffic movements in the UAE grew at a rate of 2.9 per cent in July 2013 to reach 63,213, compared with the figures of the same month last year, the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) announced today.
GCAA's latest monthly report showed an average of 2,039 air traffic movements per day during the said period.
GCAA's Air Traffic Monthly Report for July 2013 provided the number of air traffic movements in each of the UAE airports.
Dubai ranked first with 29074 traffic movements. Over-flights stood next at 12,322 air traffic movements. Abu Dhabi ranked third with 10,064 air traffic movements.
According to the report, air traffic movements in Sharjah International Airport ranked fourth with 5,365 movements. Local flights between UAE airports were in the fifth position with 5,310 movements.
Al Maktoum International Airport witnessed 507 air traffic movements; Fujairah International Airport 84 movements; Ras Al Khaimah International Airport 382 and Al Ain Airport 105 air traffic movements.
