Flight tickets to some destinations in the past few weeks have reduced at least 50 per cent from that of the peak summer fares, reported 'Al Ittihad'.

Arab and foreign airlines are witnessing a sluggish period. demand, however, is expected to rise next month in antocipation of Eid Al Adha holidays. Begining next month travel agents have stooped booking at the current reduced prices.

Some airlines even announced cuts of over 30 per cent than budget carriers. The UAE is seeing an increase in the number of tourists, though, with the exhibition season in full swing coupled with the unrest elsewhere in the region. The numbers will only increase with Eid holidays followed by the excellent climate and then Christmas and New Year celebrations.

Riyadh Al-Faisal Director-General of Al-Majid travel said healthy competition among agents also contributed to lower prices.

For instance, Dubai-Damascus flight on Syrian Airlines costs Dh840 compared to Dh910 on the Arabia Airlines and Dh950 on flyDubai.
