BMW Group sales in Abu Dhabi up 30% in H1

BMW and MINI sales in Abu Dhabi witnessed a 30 per cent increase while Rolls-Royce Motors sales increased by 23 per cent in the first half of 2011 compared to the first six months of last year, ranking Abu Dhabi Motors as the best-selling importer across the Middle East.

Abu Dhabi Motors is the exclusive importer for BMW Group in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.

Sales for the BMW brand grew 30 per cent with 2,143 cars delivered to customers. The top-of-the-range models continued to be amongst the best-selling with the BMW X6 being the top selling model. 629 X6 cars were sold, an 81 per cent increase followed by the BMW 5 Series with 588 cars sold, 93 per cent increase; BMW X5 389 cars sold, an 7 per cent increase in sales.

Another area of the BMW brand that saw substantial growth for the importer was BMW Premium Selection, the company's approved used-car programme which had an 22 per cent increase in sales.

Around 104 MINI cars were sold to customers which was a 76 per cent increase in sales.

Arno Husselmann, General Manager of Abu Dhabi Motors, said MINI sales are expected to increase even further when the new MINI Coupe is e launched in the coming few months.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars continue to exceed expectations in Abu Dhabi with 23 per cent sales increase in the first half of 2011.

Abu Dhabi Motors achieved outstanding results with its two top selling models Phantom and Ghost. The importer sustained its position as the best performing Rolls-Royce dealer in the Middle East. The sole dealer of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain continues to sell rich Bespoke specifications on all cars in 2011, after ranking number one Bespoke dealer around the world in 2010.

Husselmann said: "We are ranked among the top 3 out of 1,200 BMW dealers and importers worldwide in 2010."

Overall, BMW Group Middle East has reported a 13 per cent growth in sales for the first half of 2011 compared to the same period last year, the world's most successful premium automotive manufacturer delivered a total of 9,134 BMW and MINI vehicles to customers across 14 Middle East markets. The UAE remains the company's biggest market accounting for 47 per cent of BMW and MINI sales.
