Dubai World Central (DWC), the world’s first purpose-built aerotropolis, has announced that Danzas AEI Emirates, a joint venture between the Al Tayer Group and DHL Global Forwarding, has broken ground for its two new airfreight and chemical logistics facilities at the DWC Logistics District.

Senior officials from DWC, Danzas, and other key stakeholders attended the special ceremony for the buildings, which are being developed at a cost of Dh148 million and are due for completion by November 2014.

Danzas’ upcoming Chemical Logistics facility will comprise 12,000 sqm of multiple chambers capable of handling various classes of dangerous goods and another 10,000 sqm of space for non-hazardous materials. It will enable Danzas to better support and expand their customer base by offering more logistical options for hazardous shipments.

On the other hand, the Airfreight Operations facility, will contain two fully equipped 7,500 sqm chambers that will integrate with airfreight movements to and from the Al Maktoum International Airport (AMIA). This will enhance’s Danzas’ ability to serve its Air Freight customers by providing cargo handling and cross-docking capability for both Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport. The strategic location of DWC will also provide accessible links to the intermodal transportation capabilities of the Jebel Ali sea port and the Danzas Road Freight Network.

The commissioning of the two facilities will consolidate Danzas’ leading position in international logistics. Through DWC’s integrated infrastructure, the company will be able to strategically expand its core offerings to local and regional businesses in the Mena region.

Rashed Buqara’a, Chief Operating Officer, Dubai Aviation City Corporation, said: “Logistics companies are joining the ranks of other businesses that are increasingly realizing the benefits of DWC’s dedicated infrastructure and highly integrated environment for driving growth in this region. This is reflected by the growing number of tenants at DWC Logistics District.

By catering to Danza’s need for multi-modal transportation, value-add and complex logistics services, we hope to help our partner deliver its brand promise.”

“When the latest Danzas facilities open next year they will further enhance the existing operational footprint of Danzas in Dubai, bringing its total operational space to about 200,000 sqm. This strategic partnership with DWC’s will secure our leadership in the logistics segment and allow us to offer our customers greater flexibility than ever before,” added Samer Kaissi, Country Manager, Danzas AEI Emirates.
