Dubai-based Emirates airlines has rejected a claim by Canadian government that granting more landing rights to UAE airlines would have cost thousands of job losses to Canadian nationals, according to Canadian media reports.

"Emirates has difficulty in understanding the assertion." Emirates airline President Tim Clark was quoted as saying by The Canadian Press.

Clark said that evidence proves that wealth and job creation follow from an increased airline presence.

The Canadian government claimed last week that "literally tens of thousands of jobs" were at stake if Canada had granted more landing rights to Emirates and Etihad Airways.
