Leighton Middle East Contracting, the Oman arm of Habtoor Leighton Group (HLG), has won a contract to construct $78 million (Dh286.26 million) million 5-star hotel in Muscat.

Awarded by Saraya Bandar Jissah company, the contract involves carrying out all civil works, MEP work and finishes. This will also include infrastructure preparation and landscaping.

HLG CEO and Managing Director José Antonio López-Monís said the project will help contribute Oman’s economy and enhance the region’s attraction as a popular tourist destination.

“This is our first contract with Saraya Bandar Jissah… and (this) will be a flagship hotel in the region,” he said.

This 260-room hotel, part of the first construction phase along with the boutique hotel, recreational facilities and residential neighborhoods, will be completed in 2017. The two hotels will together form the major leisure components of Saraya Bandar Jissah.

The 5-star hotel will be operated by Dubai’s Jumeirah Group.
