Rolls-Royce Group PLC, the manufacturer of the plane engine that blew apart midair on a Qantas superjumbo earlier this month, has won a $1.8 billion engine order from Air China.
The London-based company said Monday it will provide Trent XWB engines for ten Airbus A350 XWB aircraft and Trent 700 engines for ten Airbus A330 aircraft.
It is the second major Chinese deal for Rolls-Royce this month after it signed a $1.2 billion deal to provide engines for 16 A330 jets operated by China Eastern Airlines.
Rolls-Royce is working with airlines to replace faulty Trent 900 engines that power Airbus A380 superjumbos.
Shares in the company which have dropped 9 percent since the Qantas incident are up 0.4 percent at 594.5 pence ($9.56) on the London Stock Exchange.
