Sharjah Media Centre (SMC), the official media and communication arm of the government of Sharjah, is participating in the World Travel Market (WTM 2012) through its international launch of Sharjah Media
Centre’s new identity.
WTM 2012 opens its doors on November 5 at ExCeL-London and will run till November 8. Regarded as a vibrant business-to-business event, the platform offers a unique opportunity for the entire global travel market to meet, network, exchange experience, negotiate and conduct business.
Sharjah Media Centre participates at WTM 2011 under the directives of Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qassimi, Chairman of SMC, to highlight its role as the emirate’s communication vehicle. Towards this end, Osama Samra, Director of Sharjah Media Centre, is leading the centre’s presence at the exhibition through meetings and networking with international media and travel professionals.
Through its presence at the global event, Sharjah Media Centre will launch its new identity, which includes a new logo inspired from the aspirations to lead constructive and purposeful communication, which aims to deliver messages of the various developments in Sharjah on the local, regional and international landscapes.
Sheikh Sultan pointed out that the centre also contributes to influence the perception of the media in the UAE positively and will create an excellent system to connect to various government departments and official institutions in Sharjah. To fulfill its functions, Sharjah Media Centre comprises three sub units, each with a different logo. These are The Media Office of His Highness, the Government Communication Unit and Sharjah Press Club.
These sub-units ensure a qualitative and systematic delivery of the emirate’s key messages to the world, in addition to sustaining a solid communication network between all of Sharjah’s government authorities and creating a regional hub for professionals from all walks of the media and communication field.
With WTM, SMC aims to establish a connection and hold various interviews with leading international media, including over 3,000 industry professionals and a spectrum of entities as part of its overarching objective to position Sharjah more effectively in the global landscape.
Osama Samra, Director of Sharjah Media Centre, said: “The World Travel Market is a highly-visible platform that will prove ideal for enhancing Sharjah’s reputation as a window to the world with its unique multicultural presence and diversified political, economic, and tourism ambitions.
